FRIENDS ALONG THE WAY
A ball. A kite.
A very good dog.

Meet Matilda
After the bus ride, Bear meets a little girl called Matilda. She is playing with a big red ball. Their adventure gives grown-ups a chance to talk about staying safely back from the road and asking an adult for help.

Meet Archie
When Archie’s kite gets away, Bear leaps to help. A simple moment of kindness becomes a big thank-you—and another new friend.
Read the words in Archie’s picture
Bear saw a kite flying in the sky. He also saw a boy trying to run after it.
The kite was getting higher and higher!
“Good dog!”
“You caught my kite! Thank you!”
said Archie.
FOR THE GROWN-UPS
Small questions.
Lovely conversations.
A bright picture-book adventure for toddlers and preschoolers, made for a parent, grandparent or carer to read aloud. Pause, point, repeat the fun words and let your little one lead the conversation.
- Notice: “What colour is the bus? Where is Bear’s tag?”
- Predict: “Where do you think Bear will go next?”
- Be kind: “How did Bear help his new friends?”
- Stay safe: “Who helps us cross the road?”
- Feel at home: “What makes you happy to come home?”
